Kutch district is a formidable mineral-based industrial sectors which are diversified. The industrial development in Kutch district is attributed to the presence of Minerals, Port-based industries, Marine Chemicals, Engineering, Chemicals, Ceramics and Textiles.

Kutch’s economy is highly dependent on the Port and Mineral-based industries which are established in the district. It also enjoys its position as one of the major port city of the country. Traditionally, Kutch is considered a hunting ground for minerals and paradise for the geologists. It has strategy location. It’s endowed with rich mineral resources and vast coastline. 75% of the total minerals of Gujarat State are produced in the Kutch. Major industries present in the district include Adani Group, Suzlon, Sanghi Group, Welspun, Videocon International Ltd., Varsana Ispat Ltd., Essar, Agrocel Industries Ltd.

Adani Group owns a fully functional multi-purpose port at Mundra in the Gulf of Kutch and has set up an edible oil refinery in the district.

Sanghi Industries Ltd. has set up a cement plant at Sanghipuram village in Abdasa, having its own captive mines, power plant, desalination plant and a captive jetty. A total of thirteen Industrial estates and three industrial parks are present in Kutch. There are total 7,080 industrial units registered in Kutch District of which over 6,128 are small and medium scale industrial units. Salt industry is highly developed in Anjar, Gandhidham, Mundra, Bhachau and Rapar tehsils. There are 159 licensed salt units in the district which produces 25 lakh tonnes at present. There are three operational SEZs in Kutch which are Kandla SEZ, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (MPSEZ), Euro Multi Vision Ltd. There is two SIR which is the Anjar SIR and Santalpur SIR.
