Navlakhi

Navlakhi group of ports are located in Hansthal Creek, southwest end of the Gulf of Kutch, in Morbi district (formed in August 2015). Morbi produces 70% of India’s gross ceramic production and 5% of the world’s needs, around 80% of the country’s Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) production and is the largest producer of wall clocks in India.

Morbi houses over 700 ceramic units with production to the tune of ₹ 4,000 crores annually, primarily comprising productions like ceramic tiles and sanitary ware. Another major industry is clock manufacturing with many premium brands based out of Morbi. Ajanta Quartz, established in 1971 soon diversified in different sector such as CFL lights, digital display, e-bike, electrical products, calculators, home appliances and ceramics.

Other industries / manufacturing units include paper mills, and ancillary industries such as packaging industry, export houses etc. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are spread across Maliya, Morbi, Tankara, Wankaner and Halvad Talukas. Morbi is rich in mineral deposits like black trap, ordinary sand, ordinary clay, red clay, sandstone, fire clay and silica.

Owing to massive deposits and suitable climatic conditions in the district, Morbi taluka has induced the growth of Ceramic industries. Other than this, many enterprises deal in consumer durables and engineering goods. Tourism also fetches significant income to the economy of the district as many visitors visit the district having historic values. More than 700 enterprises manufacture Ceramic Tiles, Floor Tiles, Luster Wall Tiles, Glazed Wall Tiles, Vitrified Tiles, Porcelain Tiles, 2D, 4D Tiles, Spartek, Roofing and Mosaic Tiles. Of which, over 100 enterprises are manufacturing specialised Vitrified Tiles, which has a growing demand across the country and the world. It is also hub of digital and other types of watch and clocks manufacturing enterprises such as Ajanta, Samay, Sonera and Sonam which are world leaders in this sector. There is one proposed SIR which is the Navlakhi SIR.
