Okha

Okha is an all-weather port with direct berthing facilities located on the north-west coast of the Saurashtra peninsula at the mouth of the Gulf of Kutch, on the west coast of India.

Available draft at berth is 7.5 metres and anchorage is 2.4 Kms off the shore.

Okha Group of Ports are in the Devbhumi-Dwarka district, where pilgrimage has its own significance. It is spread over an area of around 4,051 square kilometres, which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea, Jamnagar district and Porbandar district. Earlier, Devbhumi Dwarka was part of Jamnagar district, later it was separated as Devbhumi Dwarka district in the year 2013.

The bauxite and limestone deposits found in Dev Bhumi Dwarka have been exported to China, Oman, UAE and have been moved by the coastal movement in India itself. A significant number of industrial estates and parks exist in the district.

The fish processing industry is a major sector in Dwarka, with fish being exported to Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Dubai and other parts of the world. Sectors such as cement, edible oil refinery plants, textiles, engineering and fish processing also contribute to the economy.

There are 8 large and medium scale industries operating in the district which produce solvents, edible oils, cement, yarn, soda ash, salt, fertiliser, agricultural implements etc. Major famous industries are Carborandum Universal, Tata Chemicals, Bombay Minerals, Natraj Ceramics etc. Under the new government policy on Biotechnology, Dwarka has been identified as an agriculture biotechnology zone. One SIR is proposed in Okha and two SEZs are located in District Jamnagar, about 150 Kms away.

Okha Group of Ports contains four GMB jetties and one captive jetty.
